What is your opinion, why is there more men than women programmers?

because women like the easy stuff? ... but there are women out here who are programmers and the number increases day in day out... the men will be in for a bigger surprise some time soon :)

Eish, too true. I just think the concept of programming is not one that appeals to woman. It is not as social as other lines of work. I have met one or two but they generally move on to project management or the likes. Nothing to do with intelligence, all to do withinterest :)

but yea was just making the point. not often you see a female developer but they are turning up more and more these days.

I agree with Rabid Dog. Programming is not glamorous and holds the geek stereotype. Who knows maybe it will change in the future.

I think it's the whole fear of being stuck in tech support pool with a bunch of guys wearing Mr. Spock ears and watching South Park and Gorillaz videos that does it. I do remember learning the basics of coding on my amiga 500 ;)
