grr, ok it still showed up all black in safe mode, so I used the admin aalible in safe mode to jsut create a new user. the problem is how can I move my setting and favs and stuff over.
I can still log into my old on but I caqn't see anything.
Is there a way to access the old account thorough this one?

In the profile that you can see stuff, change the theme enough thmes using arrow keys to know how many key presses it takes to get to everything. Then logon to black profile, right click and repeat.
Strong with this one, the sudo is.

You can copy the old profile relatviely easily to the new one..

c:\documents and settings\*username*

copy the favourites folder, my documents folder and the desktop folder to your new c:\documents and settings\*newUsername* folder
Clicking YES to overwrite anything that currently exists in NEWUSER

also check the "Start menu folder in *oldUserbame* just incase something is in there you need that is not installed into the *all users* profile.

once happy you have everything,
Delete old user / rename new user to old user / log in as before, or;
delete old user / login as new user forget old user ever existed!

There's always the "get a new PC" line :D

Surely, you were just waiting for a good excuse to upgrade anyway???

If you were to install, you wouldn't need to format c:... Simply fdisk n' nuke the partition ;)
