1. Audio CDs, DVDs, a Games
2. Never heard of hooking one up to a computer, but since it is MS, I'd assume no. (This also doesn't make sense, essentially an xbox is an unupgradable [easily at least] computer which outputs to a tv).
3. You can buy a set up for it.
4. No, not that I have seen, all games have dolby digital, which is usually encoded as 5.1.

It's kinda upgradable.. You can replace the HD, and access the HD in a PC and read/write data (which is mostly used for illegally copying games)..

You can also route an XBox through a PC to play local Xbox network games without an XBox-Live account - the PC just makes it look as though the XBox's online are hooked up locally through a hub.

6.1 audio dose not actually exist, it is just a mixture of the other channels, there are only 5 true channels... So why you would buy a 6.1 system, or need something "6.1" compatiable is unknown to me.

See the DTS ES Discrete Section.
DTS ES Discrete encodes the 6th separatly from the two rear channels.

Mhmm. If it isn't encoded into the DVD or Game, it will matrix the rear channel, like you said, or omit it completely (I know my Sony 5.1 Receiver auto-detects they encoding used and will pick the right speaker set up for me).
