Do You Watch Hulu? Would You Pay For It?

Post November 3rd, 2009, 10:28 am

It looks like Hulu is moving towards a new revenue model.

Quote:
On Thursday came more signals from News Corp. that Hulu will charge for at least some of its films and TV shows.

Chase Carey, News Corp.'s deputy chairman, suggested in comments he made at the OnScreen Media Summit that it's just a matter of time before Hulu, the video service founded by News Corp. and NBC Universal, launches a subscription service.

So who's willing to pay?

I watch Hulu because I don't want to pay for cable/satalite TV. Why would I want to pay them for a kinda crappy service.

I watch hulu frequently, primarily for food shows. I could be one who would pay, but it would depend on how they plan to charge. I would be more inclined to pay a modest subscription price and have access to all videos vs. a pay-per-view type model. I would be even more inclined to pay for it if the videos were downloadable. I wouldn't mind burning some of them to DVD to watch on my TV.

I'm kind of with jflynn, except I do pay for satellite service. The whole point of hulu was to provide good tv shows and movies at zero cost. Thats how its been from the beginning, so why would they want to change? Other than profit and greed that is.....

The media outlets are like drug dealers, they give everyone something for free a couple of times, the whole time planning to get people hooked and start charging them for it later.

Always wanted to see Hulu because of the kinda shows it has, unfortunately though they only stream in the USA due to licencing laws.

I probably wouldn't. I miss out on a lot of good stuff by not paying for them :(

I watch it rarely too so pay per view would probably be cheaper for me.

Depends on the charge, I don't have cable because its not worth the $50 some. I can watch basically all the shows I want on Hulu, as long as its a reasonable price I would have no problem paying for it.

I've found this consistent enough that I figured I'd post it. OK so I watch a video on hulu. At the end, I get prompted with an option to "buy" this episode

OK lets see what happens if I would actually like to purchase the episode.

I tend to watch Hulu to see missed episodes or check out new shows that I haven't seen. I still pay for cable and would watch it on my tv as opposed to online but if it came down to paying for the service I do not think I would do it.

I use Hulu to watch episodes of shows I didn't get to watch on TV because I have class or something like that.

If Hulu were taken away (and/or made into a pay-only service), would I pay for it? No.

There are other, better alternatives.
