The average seven-day spam volume during the latter half of March is now at roughly the same levels as October of last year — around 94 percent of all e-mail — according to the antispam company Postini, a division of Google.

Quote:
Postini is also reporting Tuesday on a new kind of spam called location-based spam. When gullible users click on a link in a spam message, they are directed to a Web page that contains a fake news headline and a purported video describing a nearby crisis, using the user’s I.P. address to identify the nearest major city. When the now curious and gullible users click on the video, their computer is infected with a virus.

Despite what anyone says, spam will never go away and stay away.

If you believe it will, I have a lawn mower I want to sell you that will cut your lawn in such a way that you will never have to cut your grass again.

Not really 94% for me, I would say 86%.
Most spam are from directory sites I submitted to.

I think mine is 90% spam. 10% of which are from people who claims to have an offshore account that they have inherited from a family member. I hate it!

I have made a hotmail account and if I want to sign up for anything I think will send me spam I give em my hotmail account mind its interesting to see that hotmail spam filters let everything through except the one email you want! What do they do to detect if an email is spam anyway? And doubtless gmail has the most high tec way! They always do :)

Spam will go away when you stop associating your email addresses on sites that are not javascript protected from bots. Image emails? Please. Whos idea was that? Rediculous lol.
When you stop giving your email address out to people who are dumb enough to get mail viruses that scan their address book for more targets.
And finally when you stop signing up for dubious sites with it.

I have 5 email addresses.
yahoo is general people. Some spam, it is paypal/reputable forums/ebay/etc.
work is never spammed. ever. I contact well over 200 people monthly with it, and use it for product demos and such. Never ever spammed. Ever.
then there is hotmail and live and gmail.
Those 3 are the ones, oh look free ipod. Hacking forums, p2p forums, etc all go to those 3.

And which gets spammed the most? The 3, then yahoo (from long long ago signing up to stuff bad me!).

So how do you get a spam free email address? Don't publicize it in bad areas. If your relative happens to be one of those bad areas? Phone call, or facebook.

If you register on sites of dubious nature, of course, you will have spam in the mail. I dont have a spam message on the e-mail =P*

I don't care about spam. I have gmail, and I have gotten 4 spam mails in my inbox ever. I have been using gmail since 11/05. Sure I get TONS of stuff in my spam box, but that's why it's there.
