Google Toolbar New Tab feature removed from IE

That was one of the things I really like about the google toolbar is the new tab feature. I was trying to figure out yesterday and this morning why it was gone. In the process of trying to figure out how to turn it back on, I found that it was "retired"

Wonder why they would do that with IE but not Firefox and Chrome.

Some sort of Microsoft update locking the toolbar out of something they need access to in order to setup the page, maybe ?

I would think that toolbars that can alter page content would be something that would be abused more than not. At least when it comes to IE.
