Maybe you can use google toolbar to analysis keywords.I think maybe you'd better firstly optimize your own site to get better results in seo .Good ranking is a long time work.

Old techniques is helpful than new techniques. It may depend what's your promotion strategies, content targeting keywords and where to promote it to increase the popularity of your website.
