google ban

Post July 28th, 2005, 10:19 pm

Since yesterday google has banned two of our websites. For some reason after being # 1 for 12 keywords in google (for about two years) our two websites are completely out of google index. Our PR was 6 on both websites and now it is unranked. I have heard and noticed that this is not something that happened exclusively to us. There are other websites that were banned by google for unkown reason as well. So my question is this - any ideas why? anyone facing the same? anyone knows anything about this? how long will this take? what should we do? and why now :)?

I am sorry to hear that. I know templatemonster had something similiar happen to them a few months ago and they now have their PR and listings restored. I am not sure if it is truly a ban or some kind of bug in their system. I have seen this happen to many sites in the past and most usually end up getting fixed. I wouldn't panic completely yet. Have there been any major changes you have done with anything in the last few months? Did you ever let one of your domain names expire or go past due? I know a guy (johnscott) who I think lost his PR for a few quarters because of that reason and somehow he got ahold of google and they told him it would be fixed on the next update. Is your domain at the same server, and is it using the same registrar? Anything else you can think of that has changed recently with how you are setup?

No, nothing major. Only changed site to fit to new version release. We do that per each new version - this means adding more text to features and demo pages plus changes all old version number to new version number.

Nope, this has never happened.

same registrar as always was.

i have a guess that this might be due to directories that we have on site that we use for two reasons - to collect useful resources and to exchange links.

as you seen your homepage is dublicated by 2 other domains and this is a known bann reason. Maybe there are more reasons but this is exactly a bann reason and have no mercy by google.

I think I know what he means. Look at the Google URL he gave you. The keyword he was looking for is the copyright phrase on the bottom of your website "© AEwebworks Dating Software, 2002-2005."
You get a few results, and they have another domain name then your site of course, but it looks like it's your site anyway. So I think, duplicate content. Am I right?

I am seeing pagerank on your site again. Did you get it unbanned? Ever figure out what caused it?

Hi,

Yes, I saw the same site ranking first for the keywords "Online Dating Software" & "Professional Online Dating Software"

Can you tell us what step you took to restore it?

As far I as I know, a page that is banned by Google would have
a gray PR bar.

I'd say the whole thing was just a glitch as nothing we do can affect
the serps in a few days without an update (sometimes *two*
updates).

But I checked his site before few days, there is no result for his site but today it's showing the BL, link popularity and got ranking for keyword.

However I agree if Google bans a page it will have gray bar!

In this case it is confusing!
