well just because it PR isn't displayed on the toolbar doesn't necessarily mean that google will take PR out of the ranking algorithm. I mean it may just mean that you can't tell what your PR is at the time. Too bad though I was doing a lot of linking for one of my sites and wanted to check on the PR as increased it.

What's the point of this conversation? Unflux used to have as his signature " the only constant is change" (or something close to that) -- so Google wants to change? I say let them. Don't get stuck in a rut and run with the dogs.

why not?

this topic/conversation is interesting.
if it is gonna to change, we have to adapt to change.

Jeffrey-Anthony Bean, distinguished engineer, Google's Systems Lab. Series says"We need all available Servers (incl. the Pagerank Servers!) for real big Index Operations, so there is no way to show the Pagerank next time, but when these Operations are done, we could use them to show Pagerank again"

Do you have a specific thread for the source? I am still skeptical where that information came from. Please give the exact link that you can find the quote on.

I wouldn't believe it then. It sounds like a bad rumor.

It is Memorial Weekend which goes from Friday through Monday (Memorial Day is actually Monday though). Also you may have noticed PageRank went off line starting on Friday. In my opinion they are simply taking advantage of this weekend to do an update to either their pagerank system or changing algorithms of some sorts. This would be a perfect weekend to do it on. I have a hunch that PageRank might return late tonight or tomorrow. Nobody can really say though. It is all skepticism.

For those of you who believe in what GoogleGuy says over at webmaster world he just recently posted:

GoogleGuy wrote:
I talked to a few people and there was some new infrastructure that was swapping in. They expect normal toolbar pagerank display to resume in a few hours--no need for concern.

You can see the source directly here:

For those of you who don't know, GoogleGuy supposely works at Google and usually has information from the inside to what is going on. From what I have seen him post in the last few years what he says usually seems very accurate.
