Hi there. Can anyone help me. How long does it usually take to start showing for your key search terms? Thanks

Depends what your keyphrases are. Sometimes never. Not every site can rank well.
If it's a highly competitive phrase, like "web hosting", then probably never.
If it's an uncompetitive phrase, like "how to paint your nails like a wwf wrestler" then a couple of days.

It depends only on your keyphrases (means if it is more competitive than others than it takes too much time to up)

Then also depends on your body content, your meta tags.

Hi, It depends on a number of factors and selecting the right and less competitive keywords is really the first step.

In terms of keyword competition, if my best keyword has 8 million results in Google, does that mean I'll probaly never get to the top? Or is that actually reasonable seeing that some keywords have many more millions of results than that? Im trying to guage whether Im pissin in the wind or not by trying to get position for my real estate website myself. By the way, If anywone would take a quick look at what I've done so far and give me feedback It would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible to get on the first page for a term that returns 8 million results.
But your site would have to be quality, your backlinks would have to be quality and you will have to work very hard at it.

You can rank well and fast if you use very niche key phrase, or keyword, but you are not gonna get a a lot of traffic from it.

Ok, so I recently re-evaluated the keywords I will target. I've chosen to go after less popular keywords in hopes of being able to rank. When I go to google and type in my top keyword with quotes, it gives me a much smaller number of results. Currently my top keyword has around 1 million results, the other couple of important ones have 600-700k results. So I was ecouraged a little because Im thinkin that's a whole lot better than 8 million. I guess my question basically is, is ranking for a keyword that has 1 million results 8x's easier than ranking for one that has 8 million? Or is this not logical?

No.It depends on how good the SEO of the other sites is. There could be only 100 sites in the SERPS, But if those sites SEO is 1000 times better than your own it will make it harder to rank well, Even though there is only 100 results.
