hello everybody,

Why google didn't include our backlinks in its recoerd while we have more backlinks in comparison to others.....?

When we type "link:http://www.vtlglobal.com" it is showing only 15 to 16 backlinks but if we put "www.vtlglobal.com" in google search bar then it is showing near about 3000.

While other sites having overall less backlinks but google shows more than us in its record. WHY....?

Help me or give me any clue that why google did this?

Have a nice day.

Thanks and regards.....

google doesn't show any links that you have...
you have to use the webmastertool(google). It shows all your backlinks.

Hi guy,

I quite understand what you want to say.....But I simply want to know that when we click at "backward links" on the google toolbar then it is showing only 15-16 links while we have more links and search positions in comparison to other similar websites.

Because visitors don't visit or know about our backlinks in google webmaster tool. They simply see the backward links from the google toolbar.

So, I really want to increase my backward links in google toolbar.....

Help me.....

Thanks.

Try to check your links on yahoo... It shows more results than Google (coz Google looks for the quality ones)

Hi,

It's not the matter of Google or Yahoo.....It's only the matter of our site and other similar sites.

I repeat my question again that "why google toolbar shows 15-16 back links while other similar sites having more in comparison to us, in spite of having less search position than us.....?"

Thanks.....

Google shows the quality backlinks sorted by it...

yahoo shows maximum backlinks pointing to your site...

so for getting more backlinks for your site get quality site backlinks ...

This is a good thread; I've been wondering the same thing, myself. Each "backlink checker" tool has different results. For my site, some have 800+. Some have almost 1,000. Some have a little over 100, and Google has nothing. Not sure how to check in the "webmaster tool" thing, although I've signed up and added my site.

-----

What your doing here are two totally different things. If you type in link:http://www.vtlglobal.com, you are looking for sites that link to you...an actual link. When you type http://www.vtlglobal.com in Google Search, it will show you all sites that have that text on them, including ones that are not links at all. This is why there is a big difference.

Yes, yahoo will show all your backlinks wether it is related or not but google won't show it especially if your site is 1-2 months old.

Hey there,

If you want to see your links in the webmaster tools, login to the webmaster tools and then click the links button on the left menu. Then, click pages that link to yours.

I do not think this is even accurate. Yahoo has three times as many backlinks as google does in the webmaster tools. Still, the webmaster tools show more backlinks than site:siteName.com shows in google.

I expect google, yahoo, and other major search engines would have different numbers, depending on what their crawlers found. However, I expected the numbers to be very similar, but they are not?

This is a good thread. Just wish I had better reasoning :)

Sincerely,
Travis Walters

It is mentioned earlier in this thread that search engines can't just give you the exact amount of backlinks.. There's a lot of tools to check those and here's a good one:
