i have a question.

if my website address is found in loads of forums..

ozzu, forums.aspfree, tek-tips, accessworlds.. etc

when google sees these links... will those links be detremental to my overall rank because they are not really found on pages that match my content?

if this is the case, would it be worth removing my address from any forum links and making sure that all the links to my site are from sites with similar content

I don't think think that it will be a problem if you have a tech website and you have links on tech forums.

they are one-way links..so they aren't going to hurt. I would not expect to rank #1 because you have a bunch of signature links going to your site..however, it's great for trying to get new site's indexed and can't hurt your LP

We have talked about this quite a few times in other posts. If one-way links could hurt you, competitors would be all over this technique.

And remember that Ozzu links have the "nofollow" turned on, so they don't really deliver Google benefits. Other forums and/or directories may do the same.

Yup - its true. The links in your siggy, and links in your posts might draw traffic from other Ozzu members, but Google doesn't see them, doesn't index them, and doesn't jump over to your site from them.
