A search in G using "allinanchor: my keywords" produces a result that has me occupying the #7 spot.

The sites listed ahead of me for this search are the ones that G lists for these keywords in the serps.

Even though my site doesn't actually appear with these other sites when searching for those keywords, can I assume that it will be happening sometime in the near future since I am up there for allinanchor?

14 views and no posted replies as of yet so I may need to explain my question(s) a little further.

I have a site that's relatively new (launched around Oct 04). I believe all the fundamentals are in place (Dmoz listing, inbound links, most pages cached in google, on-page optimization, Yahoo directory listing, etc.)

I search in Google for:

allinurl: "keywords"
allintitle: "keywords"
allinanchor: "keywords"

I am in the first few results for all search strings but and actual search using the "keywords" has me at around 200 out of 4,340,000 pages.

Is it just a matter of time before I see positive results or is there someting I missed? The site in question is actually in my signature in case anyone wants to know.

I have a couple of sites launched in the last six months that have similar issues. Google's sandbox is still there ...

Last year it took my sites 6-8 months to get to page 2 and another 6 months to get on to page 1. All you need is a little patience.

Keep link building and building content --- Google will take care of itself!

Rtchar,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I don't know why everyone else stayed away from my post. Maybe it required a little more thought or was just not that interesting.

I am quite possibly looking into this thing too much and I really want to accept the belief that my site is just still too new for google to offer it up in it's serps. However, i don't want to just sit back and find out 3 months later that I should have taken action.

I did notice that the search for similar pages ("related: my site") produces nothing while all those on the first page of the serps for my keywords do.

Does this offer up any clues that i should be making note of?

read up on the google sandbox like rtchar said.

It takes time to establish yourself in the SERP's it isn't going to happen overnight, even if you do have more anchor text rich links than others.

It is nothing like that ... truth is it is simply a division of labor.

There are far more lurkers on forums than contributors. If you look at the posts you will find a couple of dozen folks trying to answer most of the questions, and we all have our favorite topics.

The searches that you ran, although interesting, have never really proven to be reliable indicators of future search rankings.

Your post indicated you had done everything correctly. You just need to have a little more patience.

Excellent explanation and spot on, rtchar. Also the moderators often view many of the new topics without commenting, leaving the replies to those with a higher level of expertise. I know I contributed to at least two of the views prior to this post being replied to.
