Use different SEO tools. Check your competitors and do not start with the most competitive keywords.

Just try to use Google Adwords to determine what's best keywords to use for your site.

Thanks for the replies but it is not really answering my problem

would i need, for instance, 6 seperate keywords:
animated screensaver, animated screensavers, animated screen savers, free screensaver, free screensavers, free screen savers

or could i just have:
animated, free, screensaver, screensavers, screen savers

It's better to use two-keyword words instead of targeting just a one-keyword word.

keywords in meta data won't help you that much..I suggest you create an article with higher keyword density and post it in your site..

Check first the nature of business, then list down all the possible terms a user might type in order to appear your site then use keyword search tools for you to know how competitive it is then you can select your main keywords
