I have been talking with my development team and we were talking about the marketing of a project and SEO and talked out a few things. One item i did not understand too well was the RSS feed on the site and how i wanted it removed as i did not see the point. But later i was told that RSS feed on your site content is just as good as a sitemap for the google bots. this was news to be as i never really looked into RSS feeds apart from news feeds.

So i was wondering if anyone had any more data to add to this i would love to know as i mite just rss the rest of my sites to make a easy index for google.

RSS tech designed for creating and maintaining client base.
XML-sitemap is good for advising GoogleBot about priority indexing in first place.
For me they are not connected at all.

Benefit of RSS
1. Reach out to new audience through RSS feed channels.

2. Better search engine visibility.

3. Can be a viable and cheap option compared to email newsletters.

4. Easier and faster way for your loyal visitors to check out newly updated content.

5. Services like TwitterFeed will automatically add content from your RSS feed to social networking websites such as Twitter, Facebook and others. Less work!

I have one question. Does Google index entries from social media? In another case, section 5 does not matter much...
