I just changed my two 256 meg sticks for two 512 megs @ 533 MHz. I was expecting a performance increase, but it didn't happen. Is it because of my speed difference in my cpu (400 MHz FSB) to my 533 MHz of ram speed?

I have an Aspire 1640, NTFS, HOME SP2.

Confused and bewilderd.

Yes. Since your FSB is only 400MHz, your RAM is only running at 400MHz. The FSB is a bottleneck. It's the same as taking your 5Mb cable connection that used to be connected through CAT5 and switching it to fiber optics. Your connection is still 5Mb.
