I have a router down-stairs and my computer is up-stairs at the opposite end of the house. I can purchase either the access point or antenna for the same price, give or take a few $. I currently have two bars on a six bar graph.
If I get the antenna it would be attached to the router. I'm not sure where I would place the access point.

First make sure you can replace your antennae on your router. I installed bigger antennae on my wireless router to get better signal strength upstairs.

If you go with the access point just place it somewhere halfway between your router and PC.

Both pieces of equipment are from the same maker and are fully compatable.

I've been reading reviews on both, and everyone seems to like the antennae. There were a couple of negative reviews on access points in general, stating that they had to be rebooted on occasion.
I didn't see anything negative for the antennae, except one person who lives in an old house.. something about plaster walls.
Other than that, is the antennae a better choice?
