Post 3+ Months Ago

I have 2 choices right now(i think)...Regardless of price which is the best video card from the links below (send me the link of what you KNOW to be the BEST video card if i do not have it below)

I MUST have AGP(3.0) 8x (for high end games and video editing and rendering)

PNY Quadro FX 4000 AGP 8X 256MB DDR3 Video Card
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDe ... ode=322910

3Dlabs Wildcat Realizm 200 AGP 8X 512MB DDR3 Video Card w/Dual DVI
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDe ... ode=324703

What i want to know is what is the fastest highest preforming dual screen high res video card for AGP 8x(3.0)?

i have the 3Dlabs Wildcat Realizm 800 PCI Express 640MB DDR3 Video Card in my other computers but i have a smaller computer that is AGP and i need the best video card for it....so any help would be GREAT :D.....thanks,XDUDE

*****i would like to stay away from ATI if i could*****

The cards you listed are for rendering mostly. Their gaming performance will be poor. ATI's fastest card is the X850 XT PE and Nvidia's fastest card is the GeForce 6800 Ultra.

so like this?

Asus GeForce 6800 Ultra AGP 8X 256MB DDR3 Video Card w/TV-Out & DVI
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDe ... ode=324516

That is the fastest AGP video card?

Yup. The X850 XT PE is faster in most applications and games though.

so is the X850 XT (could not find the PE in AGP unless that MEANS PCI Express) fast enough that it would be worth getting it over the Asus GeForce 6800 Ultra AGP 8X 256MB

PCI-Express is a different interface than AGP.

Here's an AGP Radeon X850 XT PE: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814121541

It is slightly faster but both cards are great.

You could always upgrade your motherboard to one that supports PCI-E.

Yeah, for games, you don't want a Quadro or a Realizm. They are both great for rendering, since that's what they were designed for, but they are poor for game playing.

i have the Realizm 800 on a test workstations and it plays any game on full video specs with no problem at ALL....but i have to cards in mind for my "game" computer....

256mb 6800GT Ultra OR 256mb AX850XTPE

the 6800GT Ultra is about $430
the AX850XTPE is about $450

i hear the ATI is a little faster so i think i will go with the ATI,but i do like the nvidia card i have now(software wise).....

ATI's drivers stink. But that is just my humble opinion.

will,if that is true,i might lean toward the 6800GT Ultra..because the drivers for the cheep little card i have in there now i like, let alone the ones for there bigger cards(nvidia)......dang..i am really in trouble now...

my old card i have in the game computer now is the Mad Dog PREDATOR MX 4000 Plus, which is a great card for only 60 some bucks.....but the drivers that come with it i really like,i can change screens start watching a DVD on the tv and stuff with just a click of the mouse, and if i cant do that with ATI's software/drivers then i am going with the 6800GT Ultra instead.....

screw it. buy a new mobo with pci-e and get a new 7800 gtx. be "+ 3 ]-[ |_| |3 3 12 |_ 3 3 7" of the family.

please forgive the blatant use of "l337speak" it was only used to enhance the context of which it was part of. it will never happen again...much

the mother board that i am planning this for is the board that i already upgraded from...the new board i got is for my FX...but i don't want to just have this board laying around and i don't want to sell it because i paid like $220 for it and i wont get that for it,thats why i want to make it in to a gamming computer because it has a AMD Athlon 64 3700+ in it as well....but i need a huge AGP on it because it is a great computer but i don't want to just get rid of it because when my FX or workstations are rendering or something and i cant play games on them i can use the other one.that is what i am thinking....i have PCI-X in my new computer, but this one is only AGP..and your right,PCI-X is better and more around to shop for now days...

BUT,i swear this is the LAST AGP i will buy... :D

There's no such thing as a 6800GT Ultra. There's either the 6800 GT or the 6800 Ultra. The Ultra is the faster of the two.

All of those cards will run at about the same speed. The only difference is the bundled software and accessories, possibly the memory used, the cooling device, and the warranty. EVGA seems to be one of the best video card brands and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

A 6800GT Ultra would be sweet. Especially if it had a frickin laser beam on its AGP prongs!
