hmmm yeah I forget about the AMD 64 bit chips. They require another motherboard but be careful you match the chip for the board cos their are 2 types I think.

i have a socket 939 athlon 64 (3000+ (90nm)) and a abit AV8 3rd Eye Mobo, if anyone is into overclocking this is the "*plum*", im on a FSB of 235 without increasing any of the voltages and am still on the stock AMD heatsink!!, i used to think that intel was supirior, but the since the realease of the athlon 64 AMD seems to have a huge lead on intel, but this could all change with intel introducing larger Cache sizes on their CPU's, i think they intend to add 2mb of cache as standard. But im not sure this is only what i have read on a forum??

U forgot socket 940, but 939 indeed has a lot to come in the future.
Way to go AMD. They had some difficulties in the past, their profits went up in 2000 and down in 2001. In 2003 with invention of so many great chips they come back again, and it seems for a long time now. They have over 20%, I think, of the silicon-based market. So we''l hear from them in the future.

I didn't forget about Skt 940, skyline was asking about Athlon 64's. Skt 940 is Opteron.

BUT, just to mention, Intel sets standards in semiconductor industry, and it won't be very soon (if even possible) when AMD will dominate in this industry. AMD dependable on Intel.
