Ive recently managed to get a old computer working. Its a 700mhz Intel Celeron with 128mb ram and is running windows xp home. I have connected it to my LAN but it doesnt seem to be recieving much data. I have a ICS server running with a 5 port network switch. All the other computers on the network seem to be working fine and can access the internet with no problems. This computer however cannot access the internet and cant even browse the network. Its IP is 192.168.0.3 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway is set to 192.168.0.1. Ive set it up in exactly the same way as my other computers. Ive tried everything but it still wont work. I think its a faulty network card. Can anyone think of anything else that can be the problem and a solution if there is one. Thanks

You should be able to connect then. That is very odd. Have you tried switching out the network adapter with one of the other working machines?

No not yet. I was just thinking and It could be a timeout problem or something like that. But it used to work, then I moved the computer and it just stopped. Ive also formatted the hard disk to try and fix the problem and it still does the same. I will try another NIC in a minute.
