I have an issue regarding my CD-ROM.

I deleted all of my files off of my computer to switch from windows 98 to Windows XP, but while in this process I ran into a major problem.

I inserted my Windows XP CD, but during the startup all that showed up was:

Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM:
Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM:

and from that screen my computer does nothing. I've tried to press enter and see if the installation continues, but my computer wont get off of that screen, and the CD installation wont occur.

I tried most everything, and I screwed with the BIOS features but nothing seems to be working so far. I don't know very much about computers either, so maybe I'm doing something wrong?

When in the BIOS, choose "default" option. This will reset your BIOS to a foolproof state.

Did you set the first bootoption to cdrom ?.

Mate, are you using a licensed, vendor-supplied installer of Win XP? Sometimes, missing files in Setup cd can be blamed for not able to complete isntallation. Try the other way of installing XP by using multiple floppy setup disk. Downlaod the setup files:
