Hardware:
    HP Business DC7600C
    P4 660 3.6Ghz
    1.0Gb DDR2
    160Gb SATA 3Gb/s
    RealTek HD Audio
    Lite-On DL DVD+-RW
    Lite-On 52x Cd-Rom
    Intel Extreme Onboard Graphics

Operating System:
    Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition 32bit SP1
    SuSe Linux 10 64bit

The audio works on SuSe, but I cannot get the audio to work on Windows Server. I have the drivers from RealTek and applied the windows server Patch supplied by RealTek. I still get nowhere.
Windows reports everything is working fine and audio is enabled, just nothing comes out of the speakers. All I get is a PC speaker beep.

Any Ideas?

Check Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Sounds

and make sure anything other than "No Sounds" is selected.

OK, I know it's going to sound too simple, but did you reboot the server so the drivers can load?

Yes I did, multiple times. Even reloaded the drivers a few times. HP told me "we don't support windows 2003 server on this system so your on your own".

The chipset is supported, and there is an issue that a new codec is needed for all OS's. But HP won't give it to me, and Realtek told me to get it from HP. The XP one won't install.

This is basically HP's last chance, I'll just have my department get all Dell's from now on. I already use all Dell servers. But I needed a simple workstation to run some TRAC software management system to do a proof of concept and it was easy to just order it through the companies "EZ-Buy" system.

I had an issue with SoundBlaster and 2003 Server but it was easilt remedied. This one doesn't seem easy.
