I have an HP Compaq nx5000 and I need to get past my BIOS password but it's more difficult then it seems. we have tried removing the CMOS battery. We've also tried killCMOS. and we also tired a few backdoor passwords. is there any programs i can use to try and uncover the password that are free (that would be nice) or something i can do to get it to work without resetting it because this isn't the only computer we have with the same BIOS password....

once i have this kind of prob with my old laptop and yes it seems like removing CMOS battery wont drain the BIOS of its life. Im interested in knowing how to resolve this kind of prob.

Is there a "reset" jumper for laptop CMOS just like desktop mobos?
