right ive decided on building my own computer, now

i want to buy an alienware case

if i buy a case, what else will i need
like a fan
RAM
and a hard drive, anything else?
i want this computer not to be like a SUPER computer, but i would like it to rune a few games exceptionally well
like runescape and guildwars
can you reccomend any hardware, like a case and fan and w/e else
and can you reccomend sizes for RAM and hard drive space
and can i take things from my older computer like my graphics card and other things,
and last thing, is there a way to tell what will fit in a case
example:
i see a case online, i want to buy it and RAM for it at the same time, is there a way to tell what type of RAM the case will hold?

im really new on this, this would be my first build so be kind and dont hate me for my ignorance

You should at least get 1 gig ram, 130gb hard drive,
and should get a 6600GT

Ram = cheap (quality = awsome)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820145450

Hard drives: (chose one)
http://3btech.net/wedi1672rpmi.html =160

http://3btech.net/wedi2072rpmi.html = 200 (good Price)

OR

And this 6600 GT is preaty

Here's a basic system component list:

Case
Power Supply
Motherboard
Processor
Memory (RAM)
Hard Drive
Graphics Card
Sound Card (if you want)
Optical Drive (DVD Burner)
Floppy Drive
Mouse
Keyboard
Monitor

If you give me a ballpark suggestion on price, I can piece together a system for you.

Great! Not only will it be a learning experience, but with patience and some help even a beginner can build a great system.

Alienware makes some very stunning cases, and they should be capable of holding anything you can put in it.

Some cases come with fans, but extra fans may be needed.
You first want to start with the motherboard and processor – ask yourself, do you want Intel or AMD?
Then you can go about getting other stuff that is compatible, for instance:
Type of memory (depends on motherboard & processor)
Graphics card (most are now PCI-Express x16)
Power supply (will it be powerful enough to run the equipment)
Hard drives: What size and type?

Runescape will run well on most types of systems. Guildwars recommends slightly higher standards and has some issues with the nVidia 5000 series of video cards.

The problem wouldn’t be ram fitting into the case, but the right ram for the motherboard and the motherboards fitment into the case. However, I don’t foresee a problem with that as most motherboards today are ATX and the Alienware cases support ATX standards.

We don’t hate you for any type of ignorance. Actually it shows some great common sense to come to this type of forum and ask for help. We will be more than happy to assist you.

Here is an example of a computer that will run Runescape and Guildwars very well, as well as other types of games like it.

Motherboard: Asus K8N4-E Deluxe Socket 754
Processor: AMD Sempron 3300+ Palermo 1.6GHz FSB 2.0Ghz CPU
    Memory: Corsair XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) DDR 400 (PC 3200)
    Graphics: XFX Geforce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16
    Sound: Onboard sound will suffice
    Storage: HITACHI Deskstar 7K250 160GB SATA150
Optical: PLEXTOR IDE DVD Burner PX-716A/SW
Power Supply: Antec NeoPower ATX 480W Power Supply

Then you need the Alienware case if they will sell just the case to you.

the case does not matter until you choose your system. most cases will work with almost anything.

FIRST CHOOSE:
AMD or Intel
then
Processor model,
Motherboard,
RAM,
graphic card,
hard drive,
sound card,
psu,
case.

choose the stuff in that kind of order. that way it is easier to match everything up.

You're buying a case for $3.

How much money do you have? Computers aren't cheap.

unless my customer has a particular case in mind I normally don't pay over $30 for a case, granted they aren't the fanciest things, but most of my customers are companies that are more concerned with bottom line cost than appearance.
