Everytime I 'fdisk' my harddisk the counter progress fall to 0% again after reach 6% .. again an again..
I've tried with

C\>fdisk \mbr

And still have the same behaviour..

I asked my computer vendor, he said that my hard disk was invected with a boot sector virus .
What should I do? It's a Maxtor 40gb.
Thank You

Operating system would be helpful.

Can you give more details on how and where you are trying to fdisk? I'm not following your 0-6% thing.

Do you mean format? It can also hang due to a loose or bad cable - I have seen that happen quite a few times on even new systems.

I'm guessing you're using MS-DOS or something to fdisk? Can you connect it to another working system and try formatting under windows or linux?
