Ever consider moding a fire proof safe ? (like the ones you get for <$150 at Walmart) You'ld have to work out cooling & what not, but I seriously doubt kicking it will ever hurt anything besides your foot.

lol
that sounds good but it goes with me to lan parties and the like and thus cant weigh in in the hundreds

although i once modded one of those RV refrigerators 8) then pit a aliminum seperator in the middle so i could put drinks in it without fear

that war the coldest system i have ever used

CPU temp 15*C

How about a 50cal ammo can? Solid steel, it's pretty tough. It would be a squeeze, but an intresting project. You would probably want to make a subframe out of wood or something, mount all the componets onto that, then slide the whole thing down into the can with all the buttonsm lights, drives, etc facing the lid.

the first one one that page [the nato canister] might be a bit better, it bigger and you could probably cut holes or something init to accomodate lights and buttons, however, just opening it up and pressing a button seems cooler.
for the one you suggest, would it have to be a mini-itx board though, its is quite a sqeeze, almost btx form factor.

in fact, here is a link on a mini itx website for said ammocan computer

http://www.mini-itx.com/projects/ammobox/

i think you can use the following links for ammo cans as the one lucassix provided is too thin

this

and

this
however, as mentioned in the directions, you have to file a bit off the motherboard to fit it in, however the second can should give you enough clearance not to do that. and otherwise you should be fine.
however since you wanna put tons of harddrives in it, i dont think this is for you. you could however, decently [i use that word sparingly] game with it and as you can see, its quite portable and can be used for lan parties.

oh another thing

does anyone have any personal experience with this mobo, mainly the VIA Cpu that comes with it :?:

ok another thing is i haven't worked with m-itx much at all and need a good board that supports AGP 8x and preferably 1 PCI as well and a mainstream CPU, no house brand crap. im just kinda untrusting with the products i buy

i did some searching and when looking at m-itx, i couldn't find any that were non-embedded systems [spu-wise] or with an AGP [but rather integrated] and all i could find was via. however, you may wanna check up on that

update: after further esearch, i cant find any laptop boards that arent integrated VIA. i found one DFI but for an intel system, and it didnt have agp. ive been looking at the amd turion processor and i tried to get the processor socket info [ 754-pin lidless micro- PGA] and look for a mobo accordingly, no itx could be found, i did however find a matx, and several atx, but no itx. this website revealed several more itx boards, but alas, no amd compatible boards, only the intel devil
