Hey, ok heres the motherboard I got
Abit AV8 939soc.
The RAM im adding is 1GB Corsair XMS PC3200
I checked and this RAM should work. The stick itself works because
I put it in my friends motherboard and it worked. The slots in my
motherboard are fine because other sticks of RAM work in them.
So I see no reason for the stick of ram not to work. I took peoples advice
for adjusting voltage settings in BIOS and it really didn't help. I've tried
getting help at the Corsair RAMGUY forums and technical support on the
Abit-USA forums which i had no reply from. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So what are you saying? Your ram Works in your friends and not yours? in that case your mobo is ether not compatable, broken, or the ram sucked up some sTadic

Sometimes with the socket 939 chipsets, and especially with the nForce boards, but it happens on the Via chipsets also is that sometimes you need to have 2 sticks of memory and not a single or a triple set.

It sounds weird and I know some people that have Via 939's that have 1 stick and 3 sticks running, but I would say that 99% have trouble with any odd number of sticks.

Have you tried updating your BIOS and chipset drivers?

I take it ,that you have 2 (512) sticks correct!
Then no reason why it would not work ,Have you tried slots
1 and 3 ,hows your PSU ? .Also XMS has all the led lights if
memory serves me (could be a power issue) not enough being
supplied to the dimms.

I highly doubt its a power problem, unless his PSU is just a pos... I would say flash your bios and give it another go.

Version: 22
Relleased Date: 2005-07-15
1. Cool n' Quiet now works as intended.
2. Disable Cool n' Quiet function when the multiplier is manually changed in the BIOS.
3. BIOS compiled date: 07/04/2005[/url]

If you're not changing the ram timings and leaving them at stock just keep the voltage the same too.

Keep us posted.

1) have you tried running the system with one stick first? (that is if two 512 sticks)...
2) try flashing bios
