Computer completely turns off

Every time i turn it on and start running an application it will without any warning turn completely off. What could this be?

Your power supply could be too small and cant cope with the demand.

i thought it might be the supply..

its a stock though, so maybe its just wearing out?

Anyways it can't be overheating because it happens immediatly whenever i turn it on.

If its a stock then all the signs point towards the power supply.

Now its a DELL Dimension but i want something hefty like a seasonic or antec. Any suggestions what PSU to get?

i got the part list for the xps dell from my mom, nowhere on there do they say pc power and cooling, its like some generic taiwanese thing
