I am the system admin of a 25 computer office network in and it has
become a real horror to run and scan the network tasks. What do you
guys suggest can be done to automate this? Do you also feel the same
pain?

Well sence this is a network you could set it up so you can access all the computers drivers from your mains station. This way you dont have to leave your desk to work on a computer.

to automate it...hmm..hire a guy to do it for you? haha..nah it should be simple enough if all 25 computers are networked, therefore anything you need to do can be done from your own workstation.

What kind of network tasks are there?

Firewall - get a hardware firewall. I have had good luck with Sonic Wall

Anti Virus - Get a managed AntiVirus that stores the defnitions database on a server, that way you only have to update one computer and it will go to all the others, both McAfee and Symantec have them, other do to I am sure.
