Is there a surge protector or UPS between your equipment and the wall outlet? It could be that there is a fluctuation of power in the house. Is there an air conditioner or refrigerator on the same circuit?

If it's been hooked up in the same place since you got it, & just now started doing this, you probably need to open it up & clean the dust bunnies out.

Since it's a year old, here's what you do.

Unplug the computer, then fix yourself a sandwich or do somthing else that takes a few minutes.

Open the computer up, unplug the fan from either the molex connector or from the spot on the motherboard depending on the system & make note of where it was connected, unscrew or unclip the fan, then take the fan to your local computer shop.

Buy a replacement fan (should be like $2-5 if it's just a case fan, not sure how much CPU fans are theese days) & a can of compressed air.
You shouldn't need to bring more than a $10 bill with you. (unless it's a CPU fan)

Go home & blow the dust bunnies out of the system, resist the urge to pick them out with your hands if they stick, just keep hitting them with short bursts from the can-o-air from different angles, they'll come loose.

Once the system's dustbunny free, put the new fan in, hook up the fans power, then close the system up & turn it on.

You should be good to go after that.

When the fan starts making loud noises, its normally due to the fan getting old and disfunctional.. Just buy a new one.. Just make sure you find the right fan though. Are you sure its the CPU fan, or is it the mobo fan (Aah.. the faulty Asus A8N-SLI chipset fan gave me a headache)? Anyways, just get a new one, prefrebly with some degree of quality!

Cheers!
