cpu ded hot :O

well explorer.exe is running at 70-100% of my cpu and it's making it really hot i had to put a faster fan to keep it cool

i have scanned for virus and found nothing i don't know why it;s taking so much resources any ideas?

Well, since you say that you ran virus checks and it came up with nothing, it could be that there is a bad/corrupt system file.

I recommend you run a scandisk or chkdsk if you're using winxp to try and see if that is the problem.

ok i did a chkdsk at boot along with another virus scan and got nothing on both and more ideas

Does your explorer.exe process cause the CPU to go to 80-100% when doing certain things?

Some of the information I am finding online is a problem with .avi files that are corrupt or incomplete, and how when browsing folders with one of these files causes explorer to lock or freeze up.

ok thanks but i just did a system restore to see if it worked and now it;s fine thank for the responses tho
