Is there a utility that test CPU if they are good or bad. I have a bag full that need to be tested and I'm not sure where to look for the utility.
Thanks in advance.

Well, if you can actually get it to run a utility I suppose that's a good sign.

I used to use an application called "Sandra" years ago to test/benchmark hardware, I'm not sure if it's still around but it used to tell me everything I needed to know about anything in a computer.

I am looking for a "ready to run" cpu test, preferably dos version.
Found a couple of test, but all had side effects, mainly cost and unwanted crap.
Checked out Sandra, and she looks good, but she has a price tag.
This is for my internship and most of the CPUs are old pre 2000.
If there is a windows version that is free I would take a look.

Hi you could try and visit the following link
http://www.freshdevices.com/cpu_test.html they have some free software you can download which will test your CPU for you, it appears to be able to work out what CPU you have fitted and then it will test it and let you have a report.

I hope this helps you out with your problem

Thanks for the replies
I spent all day Wednesday searching for a solution. I did come across most of the sites you guys referred and the main issue is that I would have to use windows. One thing I did find was that I could make an environment using Bart's pe and BurnInTest Pro v5.3. This will let me use dummy comps with no OS to test from a boot-able CD. I'm trying to make the CD's over the weekend so I can test on Tues.
When I said I have a bag of CPUs I wasn't kidding about 60-70. The boot-able CDs will let me use six dummy stations at a time. If it doesn't work then we will have to go the windows route and only be able to test 1 at a time , do to the lack of test pc with windows. Even for testing the company would have to have a license for each app, and the test pcs would have to be able to handle windows, in which case the are not + the company is non-profit and won't pay for the licenses.
Thanks again, and I'll let you guys know if it works.
