Hi guys,
as you can read my sig. i have Intel 865 GBF which allows me DDR 400 MHz in dual channel.

first i bought 512 MB DDR 400 and inserted in slot 1 but my BIOS is showing Single channel.

How do i get Double Channel.

i have one old ram DDR 266 (256 MB) but when i insert it in another slot then it shows memory speed 266 MHz even i have one stick which can work 400 MHz.

Do i need to use one more 512 MB DDR 400 MHz to make my machine dual channel.

please i am bit confuse about 400 MHz and Dual channel

help

If my memory serves me correctly you will need to utilize 2 sticks of RAM to take advantage of the dual channel goodness. This thread http://www.ozzu.com/hardware/whats-the-with-dual-channel-ram-t22856.html seems to support my thoughts.

Like grinch2171 said you'll need two sticks to get the dual channel functionality.

I believe that when you have a 400Mhz and a 233Mhz in the same box the faster stick will only run at the speed of the slower one.
