DDR RAM OR DDR2 RAM

what is the difference between ddr and ddr2??
if i'm going to buy a laptop, how am i suppose to chose??
like chosing between 512MB DDR RAM or 256DDR2 RAM??

Well, DDR2 is MUCH faster, I have heard that it can make your speed nearly doubled. I don't know if that's true or not. DDR2 only works with Intel though. If you like Intel, go with DDR2. I am an AMD guy though, so I would have to get DDR.

AMD should be offering support for DDR2 here soon if not already.

If your looking for bleeding edge technology then go for the DDR2. If you could care less because all your doing is surfing the net and typing term papers then DDR should do just fine.

ddr is fine even for gaming, ddr2 has higher latencies as well. but as mentioned, its fast as he[double hockey sticks][im canadian as well!] so it evens out.

yes my workhors' timings are 3-3-3-8

my friends X Gen 4(the highest end he could get from dell) has the following ram timings

3.5-4-5-9 : ? kinda weird

my ram is rosewill and his is corsair so he has the superrior brand(supposedly)
you tell me

basicly all dells i have tested have timings close to my friends. this could be just a dell thing though

oh and GO CANADA WOOOT

i like my native country :)
