Dell Latitude C600 LCD

I have a Dell Latitude C600 laptop running WIndows 2000 Professional. Lately I have encountered intermittent color smearing on the laptop's LCD screen. The color goes predominantly purple and smears. This does not occur when I hook up the laptop to an external monitor. Right now as I type this message, everything is fine, you would not know there was any problem with the screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the LCD screen itself is going bad. If it is under warrenty, send it in. Sorry, there is no way to repair it, it will just have to be replaced. :(
