Could anyone tell me what would be the best Desktop Computer for now...I want to assemble a new PC and I really need an idea on what is the best as of now.

What is best depends on what kind of work you plan to use it for. Anyhow, it should be a dual core (or 64-bit if you prefer) with atleast 1 GB RAM. The remaining is up to you - if you plan to use it for games, be sure to get a decent graphics card.

DDR2 is the standard of the moment in RAM, 1000mhz just coming into its own 800 is common now. check what the Motherboard can support. SLI for graphics from nVidia utilizes two cards to increase speed of rendering. again mobo must support it. what are you looking to do with the PC?
