Hi everybody,

i need some help for this weird problem with Nforce4 mobos.

I was trying to plug a usb wireless d-link adapter (DWL-122) to my pc.
Suddenly i lost my modem cable internet connection, so i decided to reboot but all my connections in 'network connections' disapeared. all network is down.

when i do a ipconfig nothing shows up, i have to NICs on my mobos.

I decided to reset all default with my BIOS and reboot but nothing.

Also in Network Connections control panel

I have been trying to view my network connections to be able to edit a setting for my onboard network card. When I go to network connections, there is nothing there. I create new connections succesfully and they just don't show up. I've disable and enabled again, rebooted, etc. but nothing. When I go to System-Device Manager, I see the 4 different things I have 2 Network Adapters(marvel yukon and nvidia) and 2 '1394' network interface card. I have no network icon in my system tray to edit anything.

I'm at a complete loss. I've downloaded all of the latest windows updates, nforces drivers and boot with linux livecd to check the network card, but it's not working too- thinking this may knock something in place. crying.gif

the green led light on both NICs is on but not blinking.

very strange because everything works well until today.

please help

TIA

my pc:
adm 3200+ 64
DFI nf4 lanparty ut ultra-d
ocz 1gb ram
super lanboy case
msi geforce 6600gt
seagate 160gb

What type of connection do you have? Do you have a modem and a router? Explain the network: modem > router > switch > PCs

Hi Don,

I have one router for 2 Pcs,

My second computer on the same router works perfectly with the network.

i have 2 windows xp on my pc, the first one show nothing as network connections, the 2nd show 1394 as

network connections. I also tried to boot with Linux LiveCD and no network card found. very very strange.

maybe i should restore or flash the bios?

both network card are onboard.

TIA

It's still not clear to me. On the PC that has the connection problem, how many NICs do you have? Is the NIC seen in the device manager with no yellow or red marks? Is the firewall disabled? Is Norton or any other garbage running on it?

my motherboard is equipped with 2 NICs,

anyway
i found the problem in other forums,

I depluged the PSU and the PC from the wall.
reboot, and reenter the mac mac address for the nvdia card in the BIOS.
then everything was back online. bingo!

thanks everybody.
