Dual channel Memory

Hi i'm new to these forums and are now looking to build my own PC i am reasonabally new to PC hardware and dont know everything! So i am hoping that dual channel memory is just 2 of the same size or type?? Could somone tell me please i would be grateful for a response. I will post some specs later.

yup, 2 pieces of ram of the same type ;)

just make sure the motherboard supports dual channel

Nice 1 i am getting an A8V delux motherbord does the ram have to be from the same maker or just the same amount??

IN THEORY it just has to be the same amount, but it would be much safer to buy 2 identical sticks

the down side to dual channel is that its much much more expensive then 1 channel.

Word of advice. Before upgrading or building a system, check the Windows XP Catalog and/or Windows hardware compatability list (HCL):

Other manufacturer's hardware and/or software may work, but may not be approved and may cause conflicts.

Jeantech Phong (Case)
450W PSU
Asus A8V Deluxe WI-FI-g (Motherbord Socket 939)
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (Socket 939)
1GB RAM Dual Channel (PC3200)
AKasa AK855(HSF)
160GB Hard Drive
Graphics card and cd/dvd are yet to be decided.
