Hello,

Recently my DVD drive has been acting strange. When I first turn the computer on, the DVD drive pops open. And when I put a DVD in there, it makes a strange noise and won't read it. I'll try to eject it and it just makes a clicking noise and won't open.

What can I do? The computer I have is a 3 year old Dell Dimension 8400.

Please help!

You can replace it. If it's making noises, it's probably bad. However, I would look in the device manager first just in case there is a hardware conflict.

The good news: you can pick up a new, better drive for about 30 bucks.
