DVD-R Problems.

Well, I'm trying to burn data files onto a DVD-R. I'm not trying to burn a windows media file onto it, I just figured that since it has 4.7 GB of free space I could put data files onto it to move to another computer. So I put the blank DVD-R disc in and my pc lags for a bit, then I try to write the files on the DVD-R it says to put a CD-R or CD-RW into it.

I'm pretty sure it takes DVD-R's, a label under my disk drive says "CD-Writer/Dvd-ROM Combo"

no, you can only burn cd's. your drive is a cd writer/dvd read only drive. therefore, go buy a dvd writer.
