Hi. I have a dvd rw TEAC W516G-A95 drive and recently it started not to read dvds and cds. When i insert any media, it takes some time for it to read them, and after that TEAC behaves like there's no media inside. When i try to access, it says "please insert disk into driv e", like there's no media. I tryed to clean it with lens cleaner, but it didn't work. Can anyone help?

I had an error like this a while back, turns out my power cable was loose.

Not saying that is your problem, but worth a try.

Same happend to me. I was downloading music cds, around 67 of them. On the 47th cd the computer "couldn't see" the drive. I opened it up made sure of my connections and every thing is back to normal. I noticed a slight movement when the drive door opened and closed, so I secured the drive with one more screw on each side.

DVD Writers are indeed tricky biz to repair. A while back, i have a Lite-on DVD Writer that's working pretty weird. it does read and burn DVDs but doesnt recognize CDRs. after loads of posts in ozzu and other forums dedicated to optical media and devices, nothing helps and i finally gave up, junking the drive and bought a new one.

Sgt. Peper, if you have another PC running, try to transfer the drive so you can test if indeed, it is the drive that has problem....

I have Samsung Writemaster DVD writer. It has the same problem. The easy solution I have found out for it is to remove and again fix the power cable to the DVD-drive. That's all.
There's no need to be panic.

With regards,
