I just bought an Acomdata 160gb external hard drive for my Dell Inspiron 600m laptop. The hard drive has 4 usb ports and some firewire ports on the back of it, so it serves as a usb hub as well as storage.
The problem is that when I plug it in, my computer sees the usb hub portion of it, but not the hard drive. All that shows up in device manager is "Generic usb hub." Nothing else shows up under usb devices or under the disk drive tab.
By the way, I'm using Windows XP, and the only drivers for the hard drive that are on the CD that came with it is for Windows 98 and ME. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and as soon as possible because I leave for Korea in a little over a week and need it to work before then.
