Hey, my comp is a bit broken and i have got it on a warranty (mesh comp.) they are coming to collect it and run some tests on it in a few days but before they come i am really worried about them losing all the data on my hard drive. the situation with my comp at the moment is that no data is being send to the screen and it seems to be starting up incorrectly (see here) and i was wondering how i should back it up. prior to this happening i was looking for something to back up my disk, this has just made it slightly more urgent. i am currently looking at the Western Digital Media Center 250 as i was also looking into buying a memory card reader and a hub, which this has built into it, but i am unsure how i can get the data onto it. my questions to you are, am i going for the right thing, and how can i get the data off it? thanks all...

also, are there any that plug straight into you current one (ie you plug you current one into the hard drive instead of the motherboard) and from there you can just do a complete copy. a sata connection on the back or something. i am currently running mine using an ide cable so if it had one of those connections in the back, that would be pretty helpful. i am just trying to think of the easyiest was to copy all the data from one to the other.

If you were in a big hurry and had to use what you had ? !
I would (without spending alot of money ) Burn the data to CD's
using (there is a ton of free software )
CopyToDVD 3.0.29
DVD Shrink
Sateira CD&DVD Burner 1.45
DeepBurner Pro Beta
BlindWrite Suite 5.2.3
Backup4all Version 2.2.0, Build 703
Nero Burning Rom Ultra Edition

Most that are not free ,have a 30 day trial period

I burn alot of data to disks,I think it's the best way
specially if time counts ,and thats all you have.
