Remove RAID 1 array from a drive without losing the data?

Post October 1st, 2009, 6:43 pm

  1. Computer had 2 hard drives that were in a mirrored RAID 1 configuration.
  2. The motherboard was upgraded in the computer WITHOUT removing RAID.
  3. Computer with new motherboard will not boot with RAID enabled in the BIOS, get a BSOD in Windows.
  4. The Intel RAID utility does not identify the RAID HDD as having RAID, although there is obviously some corruption on the disk involving RAID that needs to be reset/removed.
  5. Disabling RAID will let the drive boot, so I did, and I cleared the mirror in Windows disk manager.

How can I remove the RAID array from the remaining hard drive? Anybody know a good utility to do this?
Why no, no I'm not.

If the second drive appears in disk management you should be able to just format it within Windows.
