funny smell on pc first boot

ok
i just built a pc last night and this morning and i wanted to know why there is a funny smell coming from my pci slots

as soon as i smelled it i immediately turned the computer off.
what could this be?

ok
i switched the slot of the card and it no longer makes the smell
my video card fan hasnt fell off

Ya! But changing place won’t help in the future if you need that slot, if it’s under guarantee you better put it back and let things burn, or maybe its only a factory glitch, sometimes its not as clean as usual and it takes a few minutes to dissolve some impurities around the welding.
But assure yourself that you can change the parts first if it burns!

Yeah, if it were still under warenty i would take it back immiediatly. You bought it, and there shouldnt be anything wrong with it. If its not under warrenty........then your stuck with a faulty slot, unless it was just burning off the soldering impurities, then your wah t i like to think of as LUCKY. :)
