i need drivers, firmware for the aforemetioned dvd ROM, i bought, but no cd , The chinese man ripped me off.... and hes very far away... Please help...

Have you tried the website of the maker of the drive?

i looked there, no go, turns out i somehow attached the IDE cable the worng way so it wasnt working

Ugh, whats the point in companys having a driver downloads page if it doesn't cover all its products.

How did you manage to connect it incorrectly ?

I have the driver for the gdr 8163b and if you want, the driver is also available on the website @ http://www.lge.com/support/software_gcsc.jsp

i dont know, my friend, the original poster, somehow "inverted" as he says the IDE connector, or something like that. i dont know what the hell he was talking about. so i went to his house and i installed the thing, turns out it is plug'n'play
