Hi,

I got a "RADEON 9600 SE Family" Graphic Card. I don't knwo how many MBs it has but it's pretty old already 3-4 years.

Should I consider getting a new card? I would like to play more games, and so far it has been actually ok. It could play every game so far, but should I consider upgrading it to a better carD?

Thanks,

knaexpo

Go to your bios then check how may mbs it has. Before knowing that you shouldnt take any decision(unless you experience any distortion in graphics).

Get into your bios by F8 while booting. You should find the video memory installed there(as the menus are different I cant help you with exactly where it is in your settings).

What games do you plan on playing. This will determine if you need a new video card.

For Age of Empires II I know it requires at least 2 MB of video memory with super VGA besides the 32 of RAM.

As you will find B&W requires
PCI/AGP 8 MB 3-D hardware accelerator card with Direct3D support and at least 64 mb of RAM,
and for WarCraft
32 MB 3D graphics card with hardware transform and lighting, such as GeForce 2 or better and a minimum of 256 mb of RAM.

Now you should decide.

The 9600 has 128 MB of DDR RAM on it. Not a bad card over all. But if you are serious about gaming you may want to look at upgrading your card.

The 9600 comes in different flavors, so your card is part of the 9600 family.
