hard drive not recognised.

ive got a seagate free agent desk 500gb hard drive which i keep all my movies on and i had just finished transfering a movie onto it and then i unplugged it from mylaptop and plugged it into desktop and when i plugged it into my desktop it popped up that there was a device in the computer but then when i went into my computer nothing was showing up for it. ive been into computer management and then disk management and it shows up on there however it says it is unallocated and i am unable to open it?

some help would be great thankyou

Did you use the "safely remove hardware" icon when you disconnected from the laptop?

You might have been lucky the other times. Put the drive back in that machine. See what happens.

I think the drive is fried. Maybe a Linux OS or Live CD might see what's on it but that's your last chance.

so will i be able to acsess any of my stuff on there to be able to transfer it off. and what do those programs do?

If you don't have Linux or Unix experience, your only chance is to create a windows live CD with Bart PE & boot it with that.

Or look for some local help.
