Having Issue Installing Memory

I just recently upgraded my memory in my HP Pavilion a620n. I replaced the 512 stick w/ a 1gig. They are both DDR 400. The employee at Circuit City matched the RAM w/ my computer before I left. My issue is that after taking the old stick out and installing the new one I get a series of beeps that are about a seconds long a piece and they start as soon as I boot up my computer. I'm guessing this has to do with an incorrect installation of the memory but am unsure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Shutdown your computer and make sure the RAM is securely inserted. The easiest way to check would to make sure that the brackets are closed completely.

Thanks for the reply. We just found out we have to remove the Graphics card first then install the ram which worked! Thanks again. :)

Odd. :scratchhead:

You sure you didn't just have the RAM in backwards the first time?

I have never heard of a case where you have to remove a video card before installing memory, but I don't know all things by any means.
