help you guys and gals
today after i turned on my comp (about 3 weeks old) it came up with this error saying something about a system32 file being corupt or missing and reccomended repairing windows so i did. Then when it was done repairing i logged back on to the comp and it came up with a message saying that the ati video driver is missing
so i go ahead and pop in the good'ol ati catalyst cd and click to install
next thing i know it says that setup was unable to install the correct driver. please install a standard vga driver and then run install

when i first installed everything i just clicked on install then express and away it went. but its no longer like that

could anybody help me to fixing this problem or something to give me enough knowledge to fixing it?

look at my signature for the specs
this post is about windows xp and a ati radeon 9000 64mb

Go to device manager and delete your monitor and display adapter. Reboot. After reboot it should detect new hardware and install basic drivers -- then try reinstalling the ATI drivers.

the thing is that windows isn't showing up the monitor or video card
so what im doing today probably (because schools out) is just redoing the thing. it shouldn't take long because the first time we installed everything (about 3 weeks ago) xp only took about 16mins and everything else i just worked up to

trust me
i am looking at a screen provided by a ati card
please give any other reccomenedations if possible
thanks!

If you can download the new drivers for the card and see if that works.

You say that windows isn't showing up? When the computer boots do you see stuff then? (like when it detects the harddrive and cd-rom etc)

Assuming that you do, I think that the easiest solution to your problem (especially since the instillation is only 3 weeks old) would be to format and actually re-install windows instead of just repairing it.

So you can get to the windows log in screen? Have you tried booting into safe mode and fixing the driver there?

hm... maybe there's a problem with the driver for the mobo?
did you try updating the agp slot driver on the motherboard side? I had a similiar problem, it was because I formated my computer and it lost the updates for the agp slot, because it just felt like it.

Hope it helps.
